Use Cases for DAQ Control Systems

As mentioned above, an application control system shall be used to install, operate and monitor applications in computing clusters. Identifying concrete use cases of the system helps to isolate its key requirements. These serve as input to investigation of existing solutions or may drive the development of custom approaches. A use case model[Jac95] is a set of use cases, actors and their relations. The use cases represent behaviourally related sequences of transactions that are performed by actors when they communicate with the system. An actor defines a set of roles that someone or something (another system) in the environment can play in relation to the information system. The actor can exchange information with the system or be a passive recipient. It is located outside the system under study.
