CMS MUON Technical Design Report

CERN/LHCC 97-32

CMS TDR 3

15 December 1997

New version as will be printed January 1998.

Compressed Postscript and ADOBE ACROBAT PDF files are made available.

Problems possible when viewing or printing the PostScript files.

Tested with ghostview and gv using ghostscript on SUN Solaris. For viewing the Postscript, gv is recommended instead of ghostview!

Works ok with Acrobat Reader 3.0 for pdf-files.

Prints ok on HP Laserjet 5MX/si with 12MB memory.

Printing of large Postscript file may take very long!

Most problems are likely to come from huge high definition pictures, increasing the memory allocated to viewers may help.

See about picture extraction from the Postscript files at the end of this document.

Extracting figures from a PostScript file

It is difficult to extract figures (even those originally in EPS format) from PostScript files, specially when several elementary pictures are assembled into a single file, together with "glue" generated by some "presentation tool". A semi-automated figure extraction procedure is made available without guarantee of success.
